Gravesend goes out with a bang!

Well what a night...we had!

It was our final time at the Gravesend venue last night and it certainly ended with a bang.

Teacher Pete, surprised a few lovely ladies by calling them out of the crowd to take it in turns to demo with him on stage and then christening them Pete's Poppet's! They all loved it and, of course, did a fantastic job. This was followed by a cheeky 'perch' routine which went down extremely well for the intermediate class.

There were lots of the familiar regulars there to keep the evening swinging but of course a few sad faces at the end.

Special thank-you's go to Jill and Pete for a great night and regularly giving everyone great classes and cheeky banter; Pete's Poppet's; Wally for door duty; Steve the DJ; all the crew and teachers and of course all the dancers who have regularly supported the venue since it opened.

We look forward to seeing you very soon at our venues.

Smokefree England

Ok, so it's not a dance topic, and probably contraversial amongst smokers but I for one am sooooooo pleased that England is going Smoke Free on July 1st.

I'm probably the most anti-smoking person I know and always have been. I threatened to leave home at 9 years old if my parents didn't give up smoking. They gave up when I was 12 :-)

Although the last few years have been really good in pubs/restaurants, there's still places that we can't go because I refuse to be sitting in a smoky environment. I don't dislike smokers, just the habit itself and all the smokers I know are actually ok with the ban, some of them are going to give up.

Anyone else have any strong opinions on this?

Jim & Nicky will be at Dartford Acacia Hall every Thursday teaching both beginners and intermediates (although Jim will have a special birthday girl demo - Shelley for beginners this week :-)

Jim & Nicky will be teaching their brand of smooth jive that's becoming so popular in the UK, so we look forward to seeing all you smoothies coming along to enjoy the classes and of course lots of freestyle with us, our other teachers and crew.

Just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who came to Herne Bay last Saturday to dance and collect money for our breast cancer charity. It was excellent fun for everyone especially dodging in and out of the canopy in the rain! A special thank you to any 'virgin buskers' who were new to dancing in the street- we look forward to seeing you every time now you have the bug!

What a Dartford night last night!

I went to Dartford last night after about a month's break and I had a fantastic night. Paul & Nicky did 2 great teaches, loved the intermediate routine, I just about got it! It was great to see Jim & Nicky and Tracy at the same venue and I got some great dances with the girls and some of the crew that I hadn't seen in a while. The music was such a great mix too, not sure of the DJ's name. Just wanted to thank you for continuing to put on such a great dance night. See you next week!

Men needed for Dirty Dancing workshop this Sunday

We need at least 4 men to join our Dirty Dancing Workshop this Sunday at Dartford.

We often get asked by men specifically how you dance to the slower tracks or the break in a good song, the answer is to learn how to dance in a more smooth blues style. Dirty Dancing doesn't have to be close or dirty!

Mikey will be teaching for 4 hours, in a fun and entertaining way, why not learn from one of the best in the business.
